Angry Birds Rio isn’t so much the sequel everyone’s been talking and long hoping for. This game is obviously a tie in with the movie Rio. Most game-movie tie ins suck, but this game does NOT. Rio is a step in the right direction for Rovio Mobile, and it’s their best game yet!

Games Features:
• Presentation
The interface has been re-touched a bit to fit into the Rio theme. Visually, the game has a lot more depth than the original Angry Birds games. Just to point out the most simple things: in the first world (warehouse) you’ll have lights and chains your birds can hit and slow down on, just like in the second world there are makeshift trees that make it a whole lot harder to achieve your goal.

• Controls
As usual, you drag the bird back to the desired angle / power you want. Since most of the birds are the same as the ones in the original game, you can expect the birds “powers” to be the same. Tap to break up the tiny blue ones, or to speed up the yellow one. You know the drill.

• Gameplay
The main difference in this game from the other Angry Birds game is the gameplay. Yes, the pigs are gone (rest in peaces). Instead you’ll be freeing birds from cages (to begin with). This works very similarly to how it did with the pigs, you’ll have the birds cage surrounded by wood and other materials and you have to get through those and hit the cage itself to free the animals.

In the second world it’s a bit more similar to how it is with the pigs, but with monkeys instead. A bit after that you’ll have a boss fight with Nigel, the bad guy from Rio, and get to fling two of the main bird characters from the movie. As always, you can batch through a level or try to be clever and three stars.

Throughout the levels, you’ll see pineapples and bananas. These act like the hidden eggs on the original Angry Birds. As usual, Game Center leaderboards and achievements are here. You’re still rated three stars and the animated scoring scene at the end is a nice touch.
